Important suggestion
If Fastmail wishes to compete with business providers, it should consider implementing (it would involve licensing from MS) Exchange Activesync technology which would allow fastmail email to sync OTA and push email on Windows Mobile etc.

I don't see a priority for MS exchange.. You can perfectly push email through IMAP-IDLE.

I'd prefer that anything implemented on FM be done with existing standards, which would allow more clients the ability to use said implementations. I'm on a Mac, so ExchangeSync doesn't do much for me with some proprietary add-in, which adds to *my* costs.
There are defined standards to accomplish virtually everything related to push and sync of mail, calendaring, and contacts. It's just a matter of FM/Opera devoting resources (money, time, and people) to implementing them. This will benefit everyone, including FM/Opera and its customers, in the long run. |
