No one else is reporting here that they are experiencing the problem. Personally, I do not request notifications for posts on this forum, so I would obviously not experience it. I think the number of people using the forum is pretty low now, and most people seeing the apparent duplicates will probably just ignore the issue.

Only someone subscribed to the thread (usually because they posted in that thread) would receive a notification, and only if they specified to receive immediate notifications would they likely notice that an edit was made to a very recent post.

You, me and Moderator CyberSmurf too ![]() Mystery solved. Leaving only the mystery of why the second update says "n5bb has just replied to a thread you have subscribed to ..." - not "just edited". A fault. Last edited by chrisjj : 12 Nov 2024 at 07:24 AM. |

I have instant notifications set for new posts and I don't get duplicate notifications. I get a notification when a new message is posted to a thread I'm subscribed to, and then no more notifications until I access that thread, not to edits of that message nor to newer messages on the thread.

If the Message-ID or exact time in the Date headers on the two messages differ, then it would appear that the EMD server sent two messages. That's how I see the situation. Bill |

Would posting the full messages with recipient address redacted be safe?

One reason people aren't seeing both is Fastmail "[x] Discard duplicate messages (based on Message-ID) on delivery" - the default, if I recall correctly. I am seeing them and I have [ ].
