IMAP will not sync

I am using Thunderbird 38.0.1 as my email client on a Windows 7 machine and my Macbook Pro. My mobile devices are an iPad 2 and iPhone 6 both running iOS 8.4.

I have an AT&T U-Verse att.net and a free gmail.com email account that I am trying to use as IMAP. I have the IMAP servers below set in Thunderbird and on my iPad and iPhone.

AT&T: imap.mail.att.net, Port 993, SSL, normal password

Gmail: imap.gmail.com, Port 993, SSL, normal password

I can send and receive from both accounts on my two Thunderbird computers and my iPad and iPhone.

The problem is there is no IMAP synchronization between the two Thunderbird clients and the iPad and iPhone. When I delete a message on one device the message does not delete on the other devices.

I also have a Google Apps gmail IMAP account that I pay money for my company email. The Google Apps gmail account is on the two Thunderbird clients and the iPad and iPhone. The IMAP synchronization works perfectly between all of the devices.

Does anyone have an idea what I need to do to get the IMAP syncing to work with the att.net and free gmail.com accounts.

Thanks! Bill

Deleting with IMAP is idiosynchratic. A message is usually just marked for deletion. How these "marked for deletion" messages are shown varies by client, and how it is set up. All messages marked for deletion can then be expunged (properly deleted). My Thunderbird is set to do this on close.

The Thunderbird options are explained here:-

You will need to check what options you have available in the other clients.

If your company email works as you want it, why not check the deletion settings this is using on each client and copy them.
