Hotmail Junk occasionally gets forwarded
I have my old hotmail account setup by a filtering rule to forward to a gmail address.
If "to" or "cc" equal "my hotmail address" forward to "my gmail address". Normally anything that is spam, "junk" in hotmail parlance, is properly filed into the "junk" folder and is not forwarded. Occasionally, and I mean 3 or 4 times a year, I get mail sent to the Gmail address that was originally delivered to "my hotmail address" that is clearly junk. So I sign in to my hotmail account expecting to find the offending piece of email improperly classified by hotmail and in the inbox. But it isn't in the inbox, it has been properly classified by hotmail as junk and is in the junk mail folder, however it has been forwarded nevertheless. There are no other rules. Since Hotmail changed it's service to Outlook.com I have found the spam filtering to be excellent but this anomalous behaviour is puzzling. Has anyone else had this experience ? |
