I just bought a soundbar to use with my AIO desktop computer, and have set up Rhythmbox to point to my NAS, where all my music is stored.

Was very surprised to notice that my Music folder on the NAS contains 40GB, so I am spoiled for choice!

Currently listening to Gordon Lightfoot Complete Greatest Hits - if you can read my mind you'll know what my favorite track is!

One of the best bands ever, and lyrically one of the most intense. Morrissey was a huge inspiration for me when I wrote my first poems about 13 years ago, I was semi-obsessed with Echo & The Bunnymen and The Smiths in those days (in a way I still am, some obsessions are healthy )

Cool Mott the Hoople

Just heard All The Young Dudes on the FM radio. That’s the famous 1972 glam rock song by Mott the Hoople (and David Bowie). And no, that British group did not attend the University of Southern North Dakota at Hoople, which is best known for Professor Peter Schickele (of the musicolology and music pathology departments), the renowned expert on the career of P.D.Q. Bach. The band name came from the 1966 novel Mott the Hoople by Willard Manus. The descriptive term hoople is probably from the character Major Amos B. Hoople in the old newspaper comic strip “Our Boarding House”.

I'm of an age where I can just about remember watching the band in concert at Manchester Opera House in the early 1970's.

And the support act was ... Queen!

VNV Nation - Beloved

It's been many years since I last heard this song. I remember dancing to it in the Berlin goth club "K17" where I spent many Friday and Saturday evenings (and nights). Very poetic lyrics. The electronic music has a warm touch to it, the song is danceable in sound and heartwarming in lyrics.

I mainly know VNV Nation from their wonderful song "Standing", but this track is very good too.

Goose - So long

now coming up next: Whispering sons - Alone

Worth mentioning: both bands are from my native country, Belgium.

Whispering Sons is one of the latest bands to rise to fame here, but they seem to be getting succesful across Europe and are performing around the continent. Their style could best be described as "postpunk" and they've been compared to Sisters of Mercy if you read comments on their videos.

now The Cure - Lovesong

Despite being a goth music adept, I never really got into The Cure except for a couple of songs. This one is one of them.
