Permanent Delete with TB

I am not sure if this question comes in part of the forum. But i am asking it here because, i am using TB to check my fastmail account.

How is it possible that i can permanently delete the mails from my Inbox. Current, when i press Deelet. The messages go to the trash.

Go into your account settings and you'll see an option for "When I delete a message" -- change that from "move to trash" to "delete permanently"

Incidentally, anyone know how to embed the image directly in the post?

Mlevin: the IMG button up top? If that's what you used, then I don't know beyond that.

After pressing the delete button to make the mail disappear in Thunderbird but not on Fastmail's side, right click on the folder that you deleted the file from and choose the Compact Folder option. That should complete the purge process on Fastmail's side.

To clean up the deletions all at once instead of compacting each folder every time a mail is removed, go to the File menu in Thunderbird and choose the Compact Folders option.
