We're having trouble with the temporary storage area used by Webmail when opening messages. This causes an error message to appear when clicking on a message.

We're working on it and expect operations to normalize shortly.

The partition containing the temporary storage area needs a file system consistency check. We have moved the area to another partition, which should resolve the problem with opening messages.

However, the partition in question also contains the home directories of a few users, which will unfortunately be unable to access their email for 1-2 hours.

We apologize for the time it took for us to realize there was a serious problem -- we were notified of an accumulating queue on one of the servers, but otherwise this went under the system monitoring radar.

Well, that's the beauty of this forum, isn't it ... if something goes pop, we're here and moaning in literally minutes

Good luck sorting it out quickly.

We've now remounted the partition and all users should be able to access their email again. The accumulated queue is almost processed and should be completed within half an hour.

We're examining the monitoring system to find out why it didn't send notifications about the faulty file system to our cell phones at once.

Thanks to all who alerted us to the problem -- and our apologies for the delay in correcting it.

We'll be performing file system consistency checks on the device in question and some users will be unable to access their email for 1-2 hours. We apologize for the inconvenience caused.

Hello Geir,

I have lost all my Draft emails... Are they going to reappear or have they been lost for goods?
I hope not as I had 2 really IMPORTANT ones (i.e.: one including my newly used *complex* password used on for some work applications, that I still don't know by hear )

Thanks
Ludo

Ludo,

All data should be restored, including your drafts.

3 of the 4 partitions that have been inaccessible are now completed and restored. We're now working on the last partition, with an estimated time of completion of 1 hour.

All partitions now have a "healthy" status and all access is restored.

The incoming email that accumulated while we corrected the problem has also been processed.

Hello Geir,

Sorry but I seem to be getting the same error message again when I try to open messages. It was fine but here is what happens again:

Error: The message could not be opened. Please see http://www.runbox.com/twiki/bin/view.../ServiceStatus for more information, or contact Runbox Support at support@runbox.com.

Thanks,

Gail

The system found more errors once we remounted the partition, so we had to re-scan it. This process is complete now, but we want to run some checks to make sure it doesn't happen again.

We hope to restore all access within minutes...
