They've had a number of unexpected and hard to find problems with it. It will take as long as it takes.

Fixing some of the current server issues because of the delays with the DBMail server is a consideration.

From Dbmail.com:
2006-07-25 Dbmail-2.1.7 released We're very happy to announce the release of dbmail-2.1.7 which is expected to be the final pre-2.2 release. dbmail 2.2.x comes with lots of bugfixes and some new features. Will you guys continue patching the 2.0.x series? |

We are considering an upgrade, but the 2.1 series is still listed as unstable:

From time to time I read the dmail mailing lists.
As far as I understand dbmail 2.1.x is considered more stable and faster and is recommended by the dbmail developers. Due to the fact that dbmail will be released soon(?) you'd better focus on the "devel" branch. 2.2.x features SIEVE; any plans to support it? |

Any news on the "New IMAP server" which is "beta" (or whatever Runbox considers beta) now for almost 18 months?
Dbmail 2.2.4 was released today! |

Should we start raising some money so that Runbox can finally hire people who have a clue? Or why not raise the annual fee again?
Yeah, ridiculous business... |

Che is rude and insulting, not good, but he has a point.
What's it going to take to just get on with it and make some demonstrable progress? |

We know that the IMAP issue is a problem for many. While it may not be apparent to users, there is work being done. How long this will take is uncertain at this time.
The DBMail IMAP server (port 1143) implementation was originally contracted but the delivered product has run into a number of issues which are proving difficult to resolve. The Courier IMAP server (port 143) is stable. The biggest issue with that has been with messages uploaded to the IMAP server and then viewed from the Runbox web interface. The time/date stamps and the To/From fields may show incorrectly on the web interface folder listings. This is actually only a problem in the database entries and has not corrupted the information in the message itself. Users using IMAP clients to view their messages do not see the problem because they do not use the Runbox web interface database. Upon request we can run a script on an account to correct the database information. I personally use web mail so my experience with the IMAP servers is limited to testing and not from daily use. My personal preference is to use the Courier IMAP server (port 143) for normal use. I would use the DBMail IMAP server (port 1143) for uploading new messages. Regards, Rich |

Thanks for telling again & again the same old lame story! Am I insulting again?
You probably can buy know-how & support from NFG and IC&S which are devloping and supporting Dbmail. How can I register for a trial account with my old user id? Does it make sense to report bugs over and over again? Maybe you can divide webmail & imap users and give the imap user a proper server (dovecot, courier, cyrus) without all your broken patches? |

che,
If you only use IMAP then what's wrong with using the current Courier IMAP server on port 143? I offered to look into any specific problems you were having two months ago in a previous post but you never responded. Rich Last edited by carverrn : 14 Mar 2007 at 05:10 AM. |
