Nylas N1 and FastMail
I'm unable to connect Nylas N1 (the relatively new open-source mail app for OS-X https://www.nylas.com/n1 ) to FastMail. I'm using the IMAP set-up tool and verifying user name and password but getting an "error in connecting to the server"; no additional details. User name and password are working for OS-X Mail, CloudMagic and the FastMail web app.
IMAP: mail.messagingengine.com port 993 [tried using with and without SSL] SMTP: mail.messagingengine.com port 465 [tried using with and without SSL] There is an automatic configuration tool for Gmail, iCloud and others and I can connect with those servers. Appreciate advice from anyone who has made N1 work. |

Follow-up:
I got it to work by making my email address the same as my FastMail login ID. While bot at FastMail aliases (is that the correct description) I have kept my address, which everyone sees, separate from my login ID, which only FastMail and I know. It gives hackers an additional challenge. There doesn't seem to be a way to set a separate reply-to address with N1 but someone may come up with a solution given this is open-source software and users are encouraged to develop plugins, etc. |
