Ghost of defunct guest account?
Hi.
I've had a paid-for account alongside a guest account for some time, with mails sent to the guest account being re-directed to the paid account. Since all guest accounts have now been closed, I just tried to create a new alias in my paid account in the name of the now-defunct guest account. But it refused to do it, saying "Sorry, {guest account name} has already been taken." <Oh no!>, I thought, <somebody else has pinched it!>. But to be sure, I sent a test mail to the old guest account's address. The mail was re-directed to my paid account using the rule that I set up in my guest account. How can this be, if the guest account no longer exists? And what do I have to do to convert the ghost of my guest account into an alias of my paid account? Thanks, Graham. |

From a help page - it appears you can still use the old Guest account login to upgrade to a new paid account with the same username:

Merge your Guest account into an existing paid FastMail account You might still be able to move the Guest alias to a paid account by contacting Fastmail support. Bill |

Thanks, Bill.
I did as you suggested and raised a support request. Apparently the explanation is that my guest account is still up and running. I didn't think to check that! The reason: Quote:
