Google Contacts <-> Fastmail Contacts

I really despise this, but there are so many connected services that require access to my Google contacts.

*Sigh*

So... Is there any method of syncing Fastmail contacts with Gmail?

Note, it must be a reputable service...

memotoo.com

Very old design, but still syncs a huge range of devices and services. Very reliable, but don't expect too much support.

The alternativeto.net site lists some alternatives, but none seem to be as comprehensive as memotoo.com

Another option is to set up your own server (eg Owncloud or Nextcloud).

The sticking point with many services is that they all want to be the 'server' and few are 'clients'. (Memotoo.com gets around this - it will sync both as a CalDAV server or with another CalDAV server.)

True enough - limited to 50 contacts for example - but there's no advertising.
Like Fastmail, Memotoo is really a user-pays service (they're not selling your data).
For less than $US30 a year there are no limits on pretty much everything.

Quick questions:
  • Are you only using the Fastmail web interface and/or fastmail app (as opposed to 3rd party mail apps)?
  • Do you require real-time syncing?

Out of curiosity, which apps require access to google contacts?

Whatever you do, make sure you have one master list of contacts that you maintain. For me the best solution is Google contacts because then when I change phones everything is right there and up to date. In the past I have tried juggling multiple groups of contacts and I have found I end up with duplicates and a mess if the list doesn't automatically update from my phone.
