Runbox.mm — bringing meaning to the domain
I know it is the country code for the Union of Myanmar. But I would still like to see Runbox.mm.
Runbox.mm plays on Runbox Mail Manager and is more meaningful than .com (commercial). I got the idea when I looked at Pidgin.im (instant messenger), and how the used Isle of Man's country code to bring meaning to their domain name. Last edited by Moldarin : 8 May 2007 at 05:47 AM. That's a great idea!
You wouldn't happen to know what the process of registering a .mm domain is? - Geir |

To be honest, I personally wouldn't want runbox to be associated with a brutal dictatorship with no regards for human rights. Now if only the TLD .rb existed, on the other hand...

Hi Geir,
I know is not my business but all what I could find about registering .mm domains is priced from $ 480.00/year upwards ( so maybe it doesn't worth it ). Oh, and I couldn't find any "serious" registrar for this tipe of domain...so... |

Registrar
Wikipedia say's Nic is the .mm registrar.
If there is a ethical or financial problem with the .mm, Runbox could always go for Montserrat's (British overseas territories) TLD .mb (mail box). |

I don't see any benefit to using multiple suffixes. Why can't everyone everywhere just use the same one, Runbox.com?

We already have:
runbox.com runbox.no runbox.us It might be nice to have some non-"runbox" domains that can be used as alternate mailing addresses. Regards, Rich |

I think this was not clear enough in my initial thread post:
I mean: Change the main domain from .com to a more meaningful top level domain. All the others would still work (.com, .us, .no, ..) but the main domain should be something more meaningful than .com(ercial). .mail would be great, but that TLD was rejected by ICAN back in 2004. |

sure you want to support the junta there?
I don't think you guys want to support (even w/ the little money for domain registration) the military junta - a bit of respect w/ the poor ordinary people there

Don't worry. I really don't think there are any plans to get an ".mm" TLD. The ".com" TLD is probably the most well known of any TLD so I imagine it's probably the best choice for most businesses.
