Impossible to send .js files

For the past 24 hours, it has been impossible to send .js files as attachment using GMail webmail.

Zipping the file does not help. Double-zipping does not help. Zipping with a password does not help. The only option is to rename the file extension (somewhat inconvenient when you work with a web designer on a daily basis).

Fortunately I read Hindustan Times, who seems to be the first to report that this is a voluntary measure taken by Google.

Any suggestions for a possible fix?

... or sharing the file via Dropbox or similar, instead of emailing.

I found a way without paid software (rar) and without the inconvenience of Dropbox:

1) Use 7-Zip

2) Right-click on the file / folder to compress; select 7-Zip -> Add to archive

3) Save as .7z with password

4) Right-click on the newly created .7z file and zip it normally as .zip

Since .7z file is password protected, Gmail needs to know the password in order to know the contents, including file extensions. So, it cannot block it based on the contents.

Hope that helps.
