Email in Trash for too long

I have Trash set to auto-purge after 14 days. Which it does except for one email. That one dates from 14 Oct 2016 and was deleted soon after it was received.

Easy enough to delete it manually, yet there is a small issue here.

Is the message flagged/pinned by any chance?

I haven't tested this myself — I would think that it shouldn't affect messages in the trash — but the settings for the Trash folder in Settings->Folders does specify that only unpinned messages are affected, in the same way as for the setting on any other folder.

Might also be worth checking the Only purge messages marked as IMAP deleted setting while you're in there and make sure that isn't set either.

That's correct - pinned messages are not auto-deleted from any folder.

Thanks. That's what I'd expect from the description of the auto-purge setting, but I also guess I've never noticed it as my IMAP client is also set to do this, and it doesn't care whether a message is flagged or not

You got it right immediately. I pinned it by accident. Thanks.

I'm glad pinned messages are not auto-purged.
