Yes, we think the problem might have been with Telia, a Swedish/Danish ISP that may be one of the routes used by BT to get to us. They are a big company so I am sure they are aware of the problem and working on it. We had reports it was resolved and then re-occurred again. It might be a bit flaky until they finally resolve it.

UK O2 broadband users : Unable to connect to POP/SMTP server or to main website

Hi,

For UK O2 broadband customers...

Just to let you know that if you have O2 broadband you may not be able to connect to the Runbox email servers for POP/SMTP access, or to www.runbox.com for web access.

I rang up O2 and they currently have an outage that affects connections to certain countries. O2's explanation is that a submarine has cut a cable. Not sure whether I believe this, but if you do a traceroute (Windows command box > tracrt 91.220.196.211) you will see that the connection gets stuck in London. O2 had no idea on fix time.

In the meantime I am using a VPN connection to an ISP in Switzerland (swissvpn.net) and getting access to my email that way. Guess an alternative and free way of getting web access would be to use TOR( https://www.torproject.org/download/...d-easy.html.en).

Since the connection O2 was using to get to the email servers in Norway was not working, I needed to get to Norway another way.

I happened to already have a VPN account with an ISP in Switzerland and luckily O2 was able to connect to that. Once there I was able to connect to Norway.

For the record: O2 was correct about the cable: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/08...ples_networks/

Seems Runbox is down right now: "The server at beta.runbox.com is taking too long to respond." Can anyone confirm?
