That's about the time they started something that makes me hesitant to
recommend them enthusiastically: no POP/IMAP or SMTP for free
accounts, webmail only.

i discovered yesterday a email provider called safemail, still active still able to register, the account activation is done by the admin manually so it can take a day if you register in the night, at login and in the user control panel it gives you choice to change between some layouts, traditional is the one i like the most because its from late 90s, modern is from early 2000 and other 2 as well, sadly its got somewhat modern https so hard to reach in ie8 and lower (IE 8 on w7 have modern ssl), mabye there is a way to put modern ssl certificates in ie 5 6 8, but is awesome, very light website and 3mb of mail space, but no ssl required to be used with software like outlook express 5 or office 97 xp 00 wich in modern emails can receive but not send,
give it a try is a very good and stuck in time provider (if you dont need more than the 3mb limit for free accounts)

I have a Safe-Mail account and it was my favourite for many years. Until at some point the amounts of spam became so high that the mailbox would be full within a very short time, just because of spam mails. I still have the account, but don't use it as a primary account anymore.

Isn't weibo.com a Chinese social network? I didn't know they did email too?

@Tsunami QMail and QQ are provided by Tencent, Chinese largest IM service, they also provide free email.

Weibo.com is like Twitter, operated by Sina, who is China's largest news portal.

5. aol.com - up and running
6. Microsoft/hotmail.com - up and running
7. Microsoft/msn.com - new registrations not available
8. Microsoft/live.com (mid 2000s) - new registrations not available
9. Yahoo.com - up and running
10. Juno.com - up and running (but requests home address, phone and DOB during registration)
11. Netzero.com - up and running, but you need to subscribe to their dial-up service.
I think I had accounts at every stinking one of those services, in some cases more than one acount per service. And still have an msn.com address. A walk down memory lane.

It's a pity @msn.com addresses aren't available anymore. I like outlook.com as a domain, but the other domains (hotmail especially) sound a bit silly to me. MSN.com is short, easy to remember, and neat.
