In a simple way: You can't!

Roundcube is NOT something YOU install on YOUR device (smartphone, PC, tablet). Unless & until FM installs it, just forget about it.

Thank you.
I'm not going to explain it because I'm not going to be provide FastMail 'community support' for free because FastMail has disappointed me (by withdrawing member accounts).

This is what happens when a company behaves as they have: people who would otherwise have helped out now know better and go away.

Fair enough. I sympathise. I also feel let down by Fastmail, because they have been persistently and incrementally eroding the quality of their service.
Notwithstanding that, however, they remain head and shoulders above the competition.
That fact says more about the paucity of the competition than about Fastmail themselves, but nevertheless it seems to be true; so, not wishing to 'cut off my nose to spite my face', I am trying to find a way to stay with them if at all possible.

I find that surprising.
He usually seems to be right about things.

I'm not sure the quality is changing. They provide a very high quality service. The options available with the service is changing though... Quality and options are two different things. You get a lot of options at McDonalds, but none of it is quality. Fastmail has always been quality, but some of the options available are changing.

It can be done, but is not straightforward. As someone else indicated, you first need a webhost (such as https://www.siteground.com/roundcube-hosting.htm). Mostly, they want you to use your own domain, but exceptions exist. Then you need to configure RoundCube to access the FastMail IMAP/SMTP servers. Without a techie who fully understands this stuff to help, you are going to find it difficult.

I agree...

below are my thoughts...
Quote:
I am sad the classic UI is being retired...
It means the world to me to have it...

if the feature of showing the folder numbers (new/total) could be
integrated into the
new UI, that would be great.... and if any other Classic UI feature
could be integrated
as well that would also be great and make using it more familiar to me.

I had a new thought I wanted to add...
I just noticed that the empty link is missing from the trash folder..

There are two different solutions for this:
  • You can see the unread conversation count directly in the folder list on the Mail screen. If you hover your mouse over a folder, you will see the total number of conversations in that folder. This last trick works if you have a browser which supports a mouse.
  • Click the Create or edit folders link below the folder tree on the Mail screen. You will see a list of all folders. To the right of each folder name you will see the total number of conversations in that folder and in parenthesis the number of unread conversations.

You can empty the trash by navigating to that folder, checking the box at the top of the column of checkboxes (which then will show you how many conversations are selected), then clicking Delete Permanently.

To understand, or not to understand: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous incomprehension,
Or to take arms against a sea of confused thoughts,
And by opposing end them?

In other words, David, your post is cryptic. My feeble mind asks, politely, What are you trying to say?

Please explain without reference to my old grade school chum Billy Shakespeare.

I admire your circle of friends, chickadee: this was before social networking even?

What I was trying to say, was that hopefully, some of the features in the Classical interface (but not yet in the new one) may one day be resurrected there: before they even die.
