Yahoo Mail Update
Yahoo Mail is designed to help you stay organized and get more done, faster. That means building features that put you in control, from smarter mailbox tools to time-saving shortcuts. Now, we?re introducing new ways to check and manage your storage, so you always know how much space you?re using, and how to stay on top of it.
* As part of these improvements, we?re also updating our storage limits to give you more flexible options based on your needs. Starting soon, free Yahoo Mail accounts will include an industry-leading 20GB of storage ? with additional options on the way if you need more space. In the meantime, here?s how to stay on top of your storage: View your usage at a glance with the new storage widget Manage your space with simple, easy-to-use tools If your mailbox exceeds the new storage limit after it goes into effect, rest assured it will remain active*, but you won?t be able to send or receive new emails until you free up space or add more storage. No matter which plan you choose, you?ll have time, support, and tools to manage your storage and make the best choice for your needs. More details coming soon ? stay tuned! * Questions? The only advantage Yahoo Mail had was its 1TB storage. Now that it has given up this advantage, it's like cutting off its own arm. Moreover, young people don't use Yahoo anyway. Overall, the brand's future looks worrisome.

I signed up for an AOL address today and it is listed as 1TB of storage. I hope that Yahoo doesn't downgrade existing customers on storage--what would happen if you are over 20GB?

I just logged into Yahoo webmail. I am in the "new" Yahoo Mail.
If I hover over the circle for my account it displays "60.9 MB used". I can't see what my allowed storage is. |

I just logged in via Firefox, after doing the verification thing, I opted for the send notification to my phone and actually got to the mail screen. I hover of my circle for my account, the one in the upper right next to the home button, not seeing anything about space used. Just my name, email address, a link to Account Info, "Add or manage accounts" link and sign out . Clicking Account Info I get a new tab loaded with a page that is requiring me to turn on two factor authentication. <sigh>
When I log out, I get this. Quote:

The huge storage amount is not the only appeal of Yahoo in my opinion.
While the ads are annoying, fact is that it is one of the few free email providers that is likely to stay active for as long as email exists as we know it now. (the other ones would be Hotmail/Outlook.com, Gmail, maybe Zoho, ...). So the fact you don't have to worry the service will cease operations anytime in the forseeable future, is also an appeal of Yahoo. Family members of mine use Yahoo (I don't at this moment, but I'd consider an account with them if I need an extra mailbox and top security isn't the main concern) ; I'll ask them if they noticed any sign-in problems. They have their Yahoo mail address for over 20 years, and never had an issue so far. |

I have to compose my emails in a text editor and paste it into my email now. It'll disappear if I type into the body of my email. Not too good!
