When you get the Mail Fetcher feature, there is no announcement. You need to check Settings > Accounts to see if you got it.

Perhaps for the reasons suggested above by sinan, you're really not missing much IMO.

Fetch in Newly Created Account.

One of two new Gmail accounts I created this morning (for my mother's friends) had Fetch.

Since you get 50 invites with new accounts, using 2prong.com you could easily make a chain until you got it.

Course, the account my ex-brother in law uses, which needs fetch, still doesn't have it. . . .

Now try and figure that one out.

BTW, with all the security issues that i keep reading about with regards to GMail and Google, i'm surprised there hasn't much discussed about it here.

What security issues are those, dantheman? By the way, I have the fetch capability in one (hardly-ever-used) account, but don't have it in my most-heavily-used one. Logical. Looks like another slow rollout, though as I said I probably wouldn't make much use of the feature anyway.

It's not the one i was looking for (access to credit card info online) but loosing ones messages is an unpleasant story to hear.

Of course, i think stories like these are to taken with a grain of salt as i'm sure there can some errors in reporting the facts in a truthful manner.

Yeah. I still rely on good ol' Fastmail to pull me through.

As an update of sorts, I now have the fetch capability in all 3 Gmail accounts, so I guess maybe the rollout is picking up speed. But who knows. I thought the same about webclips.

Indeed, my account has it now since a couple of days, too.

FYI: the fetching interval started off at every 2 minutes, changed (after about 15 minutes) to every three minutes, then every 5 minutes, and after two days has stabilized on fetching exactly every hour.

Since the account it fetches mail from barely receives mail, it seems that the fetching interval is thus adjusted to the amount of mail received on the account being fetched (with a minimum frequency of once every hour).

I don't have one account without Fetcher.

Looks like it's all there, but no note yet.

According to the "View history" link in my account, my "external" POP account was last checked around 30 hours ago. Which wouldn't be very useful to someone awaiting an "important" message. Not that I'd personally trust any email service for any really important messages.

In the Gmail account in which I have five external POP accounts set up for checking, all accounts still seem to be being checked regularly. However, in the account in which I have only one external account set up, it's now going on 55 hours since it was last checked. It was being checked exactly hourly until 2:37 AM EST Wednesday morning when it "froze". Gmail is weird.

Delete that POP account and recreate it. It will restart POPing again.
