Increase in Computer Virus Threats
Hello,
I have seen an increase in computer virus threats against my computer in recent weeks. Luckily my computer AV has blocked them all. Is anyone else seeing a sudden increase in virus threats against their computer in recent weeks as well? Is anything going around computer virus wise that I should know about? Just curious. Thanks for any information David |

I have both Windows and Linux installed
but only make use of the Linux distros. How does the "Virus" make itself known. What kind of behavior does "Virus" fail to hide that you find it to self reveal it to you. Would be of much help if I could find any such "Key logger" Now I have no clue if I am infected or not. I've read that most "Virus" today are used to redirect to fake pages where they inject code that can download further code that allow them to do "key logging" and such would fail unless they get totally undetected. |

Interesting. I've been so busy online and elsewhere lately that I haven't even bothered updating my Avast on my aging XP for weeks (or hardly talked to anyone else on Windows), although I hadn't yet noticed any real problems. But especially if it's gotten "bad", maybe it's getting time to stop procrastinating. Of course, I'd imagine, as usual, it depends at least in part on what one does online, and I go mainly only to extremely well-known generally "safe" sites like Google, etc.

The virus threats I have been getting usually occur when I start up Windows, and they alter my home pages.
I just realized that the month of April is usually a bad month for virus threats, etc. David |

Digital currencies such as bitcoin are high on the "hit list".
There is a 'virtual' crime spree directed at obtaining user's wallets(local) info, login details for online wallets and exchange accounts. Not too mention browser exploits. Cryptocurrency exchanges are constantly under attack. |

As a part time 'fixer' of computers, mainly Windows machines, I'm seeing more malware attacks than viruses.
My guess is that the evil little virus makers are starting to realise there's more money in malware attacks, for example, infected or dodgy software that silently installs 'ransom-ware' on Windows machines. While having anti-virus software is an absolute must, I'm finding installing anti-malware software is becoming just as important. On top of that I tell people to avoid Internet Explorer and use FF or Chrome as these browsers accept addons to help mitigate any drive by attacks from dodgy websites or harmful adverts. I also tell people if they want peace of mind, ditch Windows and use Linux |
