All of a sudden Fastmail wants another password for Mailwasher server access (solved)

Follow up: Problem solved: A brief accidental switch in Mailwasher's settings for Fastmail from POP3 to IMAP and then back, changed the incoming address without my noticing. Fixed and solved.

I would note that the third-party app email still seems erroneous, since this is a Win 10 desktop and Mailwasher Pro is not like an app on a mobile device.

What do you mean by "third-party app email"?

If you meant "app password" these are for any application that doesn't support 2FA. It's nothing to do with phones.

Then what does it have to do with, since it doesn’t have to do with a desktop/laptop?

I meant it's not specific to phones.

I didn’t say it here, but the term app seems to apply to mobile devices.

I know 'app' used to mean specifically a program that would run on a phone, but within the past several years I've seen that term used to apply to a program that runs on any device, be it a phone, a tablet, a computer, etc.. Personally I can't stand that term. I think of it along the lines of one typing the number '4' instead of using the word 'for'. I realize the keyboard on a phone is small, but..

You're probably correct, although it seems to still be a minority usage. In any case, I didn't find that the Yahoo "app" applied to a PC. With Yahoo's changes, I couldn't get POP3 to work with Mailwasher, but found IMAP does.
