email provider eith apple push support

Hello, i'm sorry to ask here, i've tried search don't find similar thread.

i would like to ask suggestion about email provider (paid) that support apple push using apple mail on ios, i've tried sparrow even bought airmail but miss apple mail integration.

i know one: fastmail, but it's quite expensive for me, i used using runbox, then mive to mxroute because i not found any advantage from runbox. the only thing that i miss from mxroute is apple mail push.

and found macmate.me but not sure about it

I would assume that any provider/client that uses IMAP IDLE would fit the bill. Wikipedia has a list of clients on their site: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IMAP_IDLE

IMAP IDLE would not work with iOS devices.
Any provider with ActiveSync support would fit.
If you are after a more affordable provider, EuMX works quite well with Horde ActiveSync.

Correct, IMAP IDLE is not used on iOS devices, or most mobile devices, largely because it's fairly power-hungry.

Other than iCloud (and possibly still Yahoo), FastMail is the only provider I'm aware of that provides iOS push support for IMAP (and ironically they offer a more full-feature push implementation than iCloud does).

However, as soromak points out, the iPhone does support Exchange ActiveSync, so any provider that offers that can technically do the job for you, but you'll want to make sure that it's a fully compatible ActiveSync implementation; ActiveSync is not IMAP — it's a Microsoft protocol designed to allow devices to work with Microsoft Exchange, and not all provides support all ActiveSync features. Even Google's "Google Sync" implementation of it has so many odd limitations that I found myself preferring to just use IMAP and lose push notifications. In other words, your mileage may vary depending on which provider you go with.

Some limitations are also unavoidable and just a function of Apple's implementation of the ActiveSync protocol itself. For example, the drafts folder doesn't synchronize back to the server, so any draft messages you create will only be stored locally on your iOS device.

after some research fastmail implement push best in ios, and as said activesync is not quite good.

it leave me with option stay with imap only and fetch or go with fastmail.

i found solution from my problem, i use runbox, and told runbox to send notification (only email subject) to pushover, not perfect but its work for me, my iphone battery become better, and i still know if i receive email.

just share, if some one want to try

Also mailbox.org has implemented Apple Push but it’s not stable.

Any other Email Provider who has implemented it now?

i've found the solution, i think its best solution for me now, it's cheap enough for me and my family,

the winner is; MXROUTE!!!

because cpanel now support apple push, just set mxroute on ios mail, now itu will use push not fetch again

its best solution for me, try it

ActiveSync is a bit different than Push for iOS.

With ActiveSync the list of providers would be much longer.

Just throwing this out here:

We now also support Apple Push Notifications.

Took us a bit to get it done because all open-source solutions apply to having one server only ( aka cPanel ) whereas we run a distributed , load balanced architecture. This meant we had to write our own solution from scratch, pretty much like Fastmail did. For the moment we don't monitor the entire mailbox for changes, just the Inbox but it works great and it's pretty much instant.

Feel free to try it out!
