We're starting the rollout now.
First we rollout the site updates, including the session transition stuff (making sure your existing logged-in session works seamlessly moves to .com). Once that's done and all our health checks are passing, then we'll open up .com registrations. It should all be live within the hour. |

Maybe your accounts had "too simple" names, so they got some kind of "harvested".
@ sflorack I totally know what you mean. Edit: Now I'm going to go sleeping. |

Not to be a smartass, but apparently we were too slow. To be honest, I don't use any of my FM usernames (I use personal domains), but it would have been a nice gesture to get some preferential treatment for 8+ years of support..

Did you try more than once? I first got an error message, then a taken message, then success. Good luck |

Especially when everybody can get only one alias. That should have been possible. =(

Rollout is just finished now, it is possible that your alias or rename didn't work because the system was in a half-rolled-out state. There's not a lot of new aliases added yet (~100) so try again.

My first name was already nabbed too. Ah well, I mostly use my personal domain anyway. No matter how Fastmail did this, people would not get what they want and people would be upset. I'm fine with it and think they did the best the could under the circumstances.

Yeah.. But 12+ years (sorry, I underestimated it before..) of FM support has also made me completely aware of the fact that they may be genius programmers with zero PR skills.

if there aren't a ton of aliases registered right away, would that speed up the timeline that more than one .com alias can be added per account?
