PM spam

I received a PM which is a classic Nigerian 419 scam, with some original language "I have been diagnosed with esophagus cancer. It has defiled all forms of medical treatment". The sender is still an active (i.e. not banned) member.
I'm sure the moderators can read the message, which remains in my PM Inbox and decide what action to take.

I haven't -- I feel a bit left out.

Certainly I've never before heard of a disease desecrating and vandalising medical treatment.

I wonder if any of the 'mods' will get the message

The moderators can not read your PMs. You should report somehow the spamming member (along with the spam for review) so we can ban them.

I suppose the odds of any currently active/participating mod receiving this type of PM are very low!

Moderator's comment

robertson99 has been banned.
In the future please report PM spam as there is no way for the moderators to find out about this kind of spam.

What is the best and/or recommended way of reporting PM spam? Each posting has a "report spam" icon, and I assume the report goes to all moderators and whoever picks it up first sorts the matter out.
There is no such an icon in PM's so the only way a spammy PM can be reported is by forwarding it to a single moderator, who may be on holiday, or off-line for a long while, or effectively stopped moderating....

Whilst we're waiting for a mod to make an appearance . . .

Possibly one could post in "About this site" with details of the PM spam, and then report that post?

Can one do that??

Makes sense, except (and I'm playing a devil's advocate here) this would be against the forum rules:

janusz much appreciated. Good catch indeed.

I trust the reason for such a rule is that Edwin
can be sued and such cost not only time but
can be very costly in money. So he need to
protect himself from legal problems.

How about . . .

Posting in "About this site" - I've got a PM with spam, please dear mod, PM me for the details.

THEN, report the post.

Would that be within the rules??

I got a few PM's like that a few years back on here actually; and at that time I forwarded them from my inbox to one of the mods in their entirety. I don't even remember which of the mods I sent it to now, but they took care of it immediately.
