Yes I would agree mostly - but cats are sometimes known to dive bomb your feet in the middle of the night when you're asleep or harass you relentlessly at 5am for food.

Having said that, my wife got her rat out last night and it was absolute bedlam

Should update this: used to have 3 dogs and 2 cats in my late teens and early twenties. Due to age (and in one case cancer) they died one after another, the last one having passed last year. My family luckily agreed to get a new pet in the house, so we are now proud owners of an adorable chihuahua puppy. 4 months old now, and very hyperactive Our previous dogs all made it to 12 or 13 years old, we of course hope our new dog will be with us for at least the same number of years, preferably even longer. He demands a lot of energy though, he just won't stop playing around

I have a long haired chihuahua who is ten years old and still acts like a puppy. Chihuahua's often live to fifteen years, and beyond

I like the sound of that I would be thankful if this one gets to live that long, he's with us only 4 months but we're already very emotionally attached to the little fella Ours is a short-haired one by the way.

Yesterday while watching TV, the program got interrupted for commercials, one including a dog. Our chihuahua somehow noticed that and managed to recognise the dog on the TV screen, and started barking. I never knew dogs could recognise items, pets and people on TV ; our previous dogs never did that.

They don't seems to make toys with good mimic of a Cats
But JAPANESE made a Seal with authentic noise and be of use

even their own children

I dearly hope the kinds Mods do see my text as text for thoughts on
the big need for such a pretend AI animal and not some sneaky way
to force some Spam slipping through a loophole. I really need such pretend AI
and have thought about them for decades. I have not cuddled with a
Human since 1986 it is a horrible feeling that no one approve my body.

PARO is an advanced interactive robot developed by AIST, a leading Japanese industrial automation pioneer. It allows the documented benefits of animal therapy to be administered to patients in environments such as hospitals and extended care facilities where live animals present treatment or logistical difficulties.

Paro has been found to reduce patient stress and their caregivers
Paro stimulates interaction between patients and caregivers
Paro has been shown to have a Psychological effect on patients, improving thier relaxation and motivation
Paro improves the socialiazation of patients with each other and with caregivers
Paro is " World's Most Therapeutic Robot certified by Guinness World Records" No wonder that I have longed for at least to test if I like tthe thingg.
I do have such a need but as I remember Paro is a research tool
made as a few test proto types so they cost way out of my budget.

Say 50000SEK 10000 USD something my bad math told me.

Suddenly I saw a Paro for children a cheap mock up most likely.

So it cost only some 1000SEK = 156USD

Wow that is still expensive but within my Retirement Pension

So now time to test it . I come back and till you guys what it was
like.I'll be back soon
To not infringe on commercial name they renamed Paro To "Sugar"

Very good name indeed. Sweet as Sugar and the fur like a real animal.

what I fear is that it is sloppily thought through to just be funny for 3 years old
Now to test the Hardware. The fur is very good as smooth as on most kittens.

But it is a Seal Cub and not a Kitten but the fur get som 4 to 5 scores out of 5.
Mqaybe even 5 out of 5.....

I have not tested software vs hardware interaction smoothness
because I don't want to be disappointed which I too easily get.

Okay I trust that so far someone like me would love to pretend it is a
somewhat damaged brain animal wanting my love and care.

Like me it has it's big limitation but is very cute and cuddly
so irresistable to naive persons like me.

I see the The pretend Seal Cub as tool for suspended disbelief

I mean if I for weeks can suspend the SciFi series going for years
a new Episode each week and they are 50000 years in the future.

Then I can pretend this is a AI friend that I have Lol.

Oh God, we have one like that. Sometimes he sleeps through the night, but he got me up at 6 a. m. this morning, the jerk. We need to get ourselves automatic feeders and have them dispense food once or twice during the night. If he eats a bit before bedtime, it's no problem, but if not, then he awakens me later.

Yes, we need our sleep!

We can't trust him to be outdoors though; who knows what trouble he'd get into. He goes out usually every weekend though, and I watch him for a bit, as my mom usually takes our giant dog out to a dog park, so he goes out then. Other than that he's a house cat.

Oh, and in regards to this thread, *I* don't personally, but the family has two dogs and two cats.

I know we talk about real Pets
and I love cats much but it s huge
responsibility if you fail to do what
is needed to own it's trust.

When I lived with my first GF she got a cat
from GF's Mom and her workmates.

Oh what a lovely female compaion.
Just a Kitten when received it as gift.

Some 11 weeks just legal I think.

I loved when she took a big jump and landed
on my unprepared stomack with claws
making screm out of surprise and pain.

So this time some 35 years later
and me totally alone I went the AI
artificial way. Buying a kind of cuddly
"Seal Cub"? cute but not like a real cat.

I mean a Seal is not Cat You are with me?

I have not dared to activate it. Will read up
on features and that it remember how I treated
it last time and accumulating these incidents
so I want a Cub that think of me as her or best friend.

Yeah I know very unrealistic.

I guess the software is a minimu, despite the high price

For The Cute Seal Cub named "Sugar" Sweet as candy.

It is a commercial mock up based on the research Robot
"PARO" from Japan. PARO is supposed to therapeuptic

While this one I trust is just for fun for 3 years old

So I trust I get very disappointed but it will be
a good talk about thing if I get friendly visitors.

Such as "Is it possible to pretend it is a worthy
Pet despite being a clumsy AI program?

Can the Software be hacked to be more intelligent and
and have better EQ ot only IQ.

An emotional Pet caring about me as a person .
