Unhappy Spam filtering no longer works

I also get this error message when attempting to report spam:

Could not copy/move messages - IMAP Command : 'uid copy' failed. Response was : no - [TRYCREATE] Mailbox does not exist

Messages are tagged properly (i.e. well over level 5) but simply go into the Inbox, not into the Junk folder.

The appropriate folder is not named "Junk" -- it should be named "Junk Mail". So be sure that you have a "Junk Mail" folder. Not having this folder would affect the "report spam" action, which moves messages to "Junk Mail".

You might want to verify (rebuild) your system using the Account Problems link on the login page (at the bottom of the login area).

It is name Junk Mail.

Further, trying to empty the Junk Mail folder gives me the following error:

Could not select Junk Mail folder - Select failed for folder 'Junk Mail' : IMAP Command : 'select' failed. Response was : no - Mailbox does not exist

I performed the verify account and discovered the following in the subfolder list.

user.xxx.Hold user.xxx.Hold.Junk Mail

Where did folder "Hold" come from? Its was not visible. After the verify account, I logged back in and it become visible, but the Hold.Junk Mail folder doesn't have the (empty) option.

Very strange.

Then you definitely need to use the Account Problems link and verify your account. This will take several minutes for an account with many stored messages. My guess is that running the verify account process will fix your problems.

Could you have accidentally sent something which looked like spam? The only thing I can find which might be related to a "hold" folder is:
Spam checking outgoing messages and holding them

I hardly use the account for sending ...... and I only send to friends and associates (more or less). So that can't be the problem IMO. I wrote to Rob so let's see if its fixed.

The problem seems to stem from the fact that the Junk Mail folder vanished. The Spam filter was then somehow set (by default) to filter into the Inbox.

Where did my Junk Mail folder go

You might also try Options > Folders > Update then click the Done button at the top of the page.

I thought that the Verify procedure would rebuild your Junk Mail folder. This is very strange!

I've recently (past couple of weeks) noted that much more spam gets through without being tagged. I haven't changed my settings. Has FastMail changed something?

That's not the answer. I created a Junk Mail folder, but it doesn't have the "empty" option as it should. Its just another folder ..... and ... how did the HOLD folder get created with a Junk Mail subfolder inside of it ...

Found a solution ... created the Junk Mail folder and then immediately ran Account Verify (after logging out of the account). After a fresh log in it was repaired.

Still, nothing from FM support ... what's with the enhanced account support be non-existent? At least bounce back an email ...

Were you expecting an answer back in less than 4 hours or so? AFAIK the commitment is 24 hours.
