I haven't been back here in quite a while. Although I didn't use BB much, I'm sad to see the free service disappearing. Personally. I thought it was a pretty good service. Probably worth the $10 if you don't have any better alternatives.

They expect a free lunch. HA!

Just sent my "daily" message to my various accounts.

Got a bounce from my old Bluebottle address.

Bummer...I was using BB for a contact e-mail address for my old high school web site (not secure). The C/R was great in keeping out spammers.

I don't recall getting the warning notice from BB...just found out now when I went to the login page. Guess I should have logged in more often.

I just now found this out, and now I am really messed up, since that was the free email service I was using for several things that would generate spam (like my domain contact info). I don't even remember everything that was in that account.

Now I have to scramble to change my contact emails, including where my webhosting invoice was sent because of this.

hey, CyberSmurf - I have to ask out of curiosity:

Why do you send a daily message to your various accounts?
Do you send one message to each account, or just send one message, but include all of your addresses in the "To" field ?
If you send more than one message (one to each account), do you always send from the same account each time?
Is the message the same each time, or do you sometimes add an attachment, imbedded picture, link, etc. ??

again, just curious, and wondering if I am missing an email account checking system or something

Wow! You went more than a month without checking your e-mail account? Wow!

Just normal overkill on my part.
It helps me get a rough idea at how reliable/healthy a service is. e.g. received 100 out of 100

I have the the recipient addresses in the bcc field.
I just choose "send again", and increase the message id in the subject by 1.

I always send from the same ISP e-mail account (@shaw.ca).
It's an address that I use for test messages only, so if I start getting spammed, then I know that something isn't right with one of my providers.

I just send a simple message.

Its not one I use for any primary stuff. I used it for webhosting invoice & domain registry (because of the spam I would be receiving )

Bluebottle's admin Robert was nice enough to temporarily reactivate my two accounts so I could change some more sites from bluebottle.com to another email address. I'm almost done.

thanks for the explanation, CS - always good to pick up tips and suggestions.

I guess you don't know if a service is working reliably or not, because if you don't get messages, you don't know you aren't getting the messages until you don't get a message that you know you were supposed to get.....

(but, seriously, good tip - I'm gonna start this morning)

You may be able to ask for a temporarily reactivation of your account so you can retrieve/transfer your data away. Robert (Bluebottle owner) has been doing this for a few people who've requested, so you may have some luck in getting back your data (unless they've already deleted all the Freemail user data). See the thread below, or post a new thread in that forum.
