Why would anyone go to the trouble of setting up a bot to post such things?
To build up a post count to appear to be legitimate later? However, basic rule is don't respond to any post unless you feel you might learn something or be able to educate others. Don't assume bots are all intelligently designed and work well--most do not. The problem is the bots often sound more reasonable than the actual humans!

There is something very odd about that contentless post by "ScottRob", but it doesn't have a link in it, so it can't advertise or phish.
Wrong. It does have a link, via its profile page. That's why I commented,

Hopefully, those that subscribe to that Twitter page can see the spammers names - and may save them from inadvertently replying to them.

I've stopped reporting their posts to the mods as they don't see these types of post as spam.
Seriously, Edwin doesn't want reports? @Edwin? If so, seems a waste of time to report 'em on twitter.

You know what?

You're 100% right!

You think it's a waste of time, another forum member has told me it's a waste of time.

I've not experienced any support from other forum members for my efforts.

If it's not being appreciated, I might as well just call it quits and shut it all down.
