Post desired additional features/functionality in gmail

What new things would you like to see in gmail?

Speaking for myself I could use an autoresponse facility.

One of the most requested feature in the Gmail Help Discussion forum is be able to add contacts from the Compose window. Now you have to select the contacts before hand or type them in one by one.

the ability to choose whether every address to which you send an email automatically goes into your contact list, instead of all those addresses going into the contact list by default.

Oh, yes, that's a good one. You end up with a bunch of contacts who you have no idea who they are.

Too true But I've noticed only recently that the Contacts list is divided into "Frequently Mailed" and "All Contacts", which is a little more helpful. I don't know how long that feature has existed-not always, surely?? -I'm always a little slow to notice things [edit] and I agree with Killer...ability to poll other accounts is a feature I'd love to see

Gmail do not have distribution lists, but there is a trick you can use to send a message to several persons using just one contact name.

Just create a new contact (any name will be valid) and use the following email address (without quotes):

"user1@domain1.com>,<user2@domain2.com>,...,<userN@domainN.com"

(Be care not to start using "<" and not end with ">" the long email addresses list)

When you have to send a message to all this people, just use the new created contact.

Yes, I know that it is not the same as a feature to create groups and/or distribution lists and it requires some work , but, at least, it is an option

my gmail wish list:

1- color coded email messages for quick identification.
2- mailbox appearance/skins.
3- auto or manual antivirus checker
