Exclamation Can't import gmail to fastmail, HELP

I can't import mails from gmail,
i followed the next advise: https://www.fastmail.com/help/receiv...in=fastmail.fm

i even turned off two factor authentification of gmail. I enabled unlockcaptcha https://accounts.google.com/b/0/DisplayUnlockCaptcha

i get Imap migration reports with problems, so it doesn't succeed

what i did was:

To allow our logins at Gmail:

1. Go to www.gmail.com, and login to your account.
2. Open a new tab, and visit https://accounts.google.com/b/0/DisplayUnlockCaptcha
3. Click on the button 'Continue', and this should allow logins to your account for 10 minutes.

If that doesn't work, try the steps mentioned here:
http://www.rocketideas.com/2012/05/g...server-solved/

i put my info in: https://www.fastmail.com/html/?MSignal=MI-*&u=22f8417c

What can i do to import my gmail mails into fastmail?
I don't get very good support from fastmail unfortunately , so that's why i post my problem here

i got this mail from FastMail email administrator regarding
your email account myname@fastmail.com.

i got a: Log: Mon Jan 12 17:52:18 2015; mymail/Imap.gmail.com; Migrate IMAP account

Welcome to the forums!

It certainly seems that the migration failed because Fastmail was unable to log in to Gmail.

I would try to set up an email client (desktop or phone) with IMAP for your Gmail account. Initially, I would do this just to confirm the ability to connect via IMAP to Gmail.

Once you know an IMAP connection to Gmail works, I would try the migration to Fastmail again.

If the migration still fails. and the cause is unclear, you can use the email client to copy messages from Gmail to your Fastmail account manually. Add the Fastmail account using IMAP to the Gmail account you set up earlier, and then copy the folders from the Gmail account into the Fastmail account. Expect this to be a little frustrating (on the Gmail end) as my experience with Gmail is that the connection will drop periodically when trying to do these kinds of bulk copies. It will be easier if Fastmail migrate can handle this, but otherwise you will need to persevere.

Be sure that IMAP access is enabled in Gmail. Log into Gmail, click the gear, and choose Settings. Go to the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab and be sure that IMAP is enabled.

The error message you quote at the end of your 1st post means "wrong username or password". Are you sure you gave the right ones in the FM migration request?

Sorry, I cannot figure out what else could be wrong. The migration tool has been used successfully with Gmail in the past.

I assume you specified the Gmail username as myname@gmail.com and did not forget the domain part.

In Gmail, scroll down to the bottom and click Details (bottom right) next to Last account activity. Maybe there will be a clue there.

Hmmm ... there is one thing that is a little odd. You posted that your phone is set up to access mail from the account using IMAP, but I cannot see any IMAP connection in the recent activity on the account. How long ago did you last try?

It seems like it solved

https://security.google.com/settings...activity?pli=1

and https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/6010255 Google allow less secure apps access to your account

By doing this: https://www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps

Migration is completed!!

Migration completed

Interesting. I think this Google check is pretty new. I wonder what Google did not like about the way Fastmail was connecting. It is an old part of Fastmail's system, but might be worth looking at.

Thank you for figuring this out and posting the results of your investigation. I have a feeling this may help others in the future.
