Server reboot
Sorry folks, we have to reboot our servers to clear a problem. This will take around 5 minutes. The good news is that we have installed a kernel patch which should resolve the problem in the future - I'll most more about that after we're back up.

The database has to run a recovery process, which could take up to half an hour. There will be an outage during this time. More information will be posted as we have it.

Half an hour could take up to 1 hour plus... Luckily it happened at nigh on Saturday in the US. Otherwise it would get crazy here in the forum.

This time not even a "The Fastmail Servers are down..." message. It's just a page not displayed, like a server in Florida might be right now.

I hope e-mail received during this time doesn't bounce; I've got some important business going on right now and having e-mails sent to me bounce would not be helpful.

FastMail Down?
Is FastMail down (again)?
It's 11:40 PM CST on Saturday August 14. I can't load the webpage nor can I check via IMAP. Figures that this happens when I REALLY need my email. Anyone else? |

I have my domain setup at fastmail, and one of the addresses is configured to forward mail to another account as well. During such situations (database recovery), will the mail forwarding work?
I am guess that if its just the IMAP or web server that is down, then email forwarding should work (coz that depends on SMTP and stuff like that). Am I guessing right? Thanks, Rakhesh |
