noatt and OR search mysteries

1) This search

octopus date:2023-03-30 (header:"References":"@mail.gmail.com" OR header:"In-reply-to":"@mail.gmail.com") has:noatt

finds two messages - one with an attachment despite "has:noatt".

2) Dividing thus:

octopus date:2023-03-30 (header:"In-reply-to":"@mail.gmail.com") has:noatt

reduces the matches to zero - fair enough - except the other division

octopus date:2023-03-30 (header:"References":"@mail.gmail.com") has:noatt

likewise has zero matches - a logical fail.

Any ideas what's going on here?

Keep?? I don't put it in one thread because that would needlessly increase the effort to read, reference and read the references.
