Yes, wouldn't even 15 minutes warning on the status bar and/or a message to us all be helpful before rebooting? Or would all of us immediately swamp the sick server to read the message and kill the system?
My solution is to enjoy the service when it is up, and to build measures of redundancy for short outages. So my intent to move my MX to Fastmail never happens because I find it quite handy to instantly update the mail forward to a backup mail account when FM has problems. It's a lot cheaper overall, too. But file storage problems or archive mail that is unavailable for a morning at the office is hard to deal with and I have no good solution there. |
