Suggestions for better Fastmail service

i wondered whether fastmail can have more options for forwarding and replying to an email
e.g. not include the > sign for every email message that fastmail members forward

it irritates me and readers of the emails especially after many people have forwarded it coz of the long >>>>>>>>>>> which breaks up the email message n makes it hard to read. am i the only one that feels that way?

a better option is to have a line that separates the forwarded mesage and the reply to the forwarded message.

it could also be optional as to whether the previous senders email addresses, headers should be automatically included in the mail we forwarded

or even optional for fastmail members to view the whole list of previous forwards in emails they receive.

it is irritating for the email receivers to scroll down long list of email addys just to get to the message and this also takes up more space and time.

i have not seen any email provider with such features and this doesn't cost much to provide unlike pop3, smtp, ..... so even guests and ordinary members will like fastmail even more.

so i hope fastmail will really consider it seriously N be the first to do this.

does anyone else have simple and cheap suggestions to improve the service?

small and subtle things in fastmail/other providers that have irritated u that u feel fastmail can improve/adopt?

Just choose 'append orig' instead of 'prefix >' to avoid the '>'s.

If anyone's interested eCleaner is a useful little program for removing the formatting from forwarded emails.

Also you can use the 'format' command in FastMail.FM's Do Action menu to fix up messy quote formatting.

It is next to the forward button. There is a pulldown menu where you can choose ignore original, Prefix >, Append Original, or Attach Original.

Deferred delivery

One option I'd like to see is deferred delivery: delivery after a date and time. Handy for reminders, birthdays, triggering mail activated events etc. Outlook can do it. 'Defer send" would make a nice Do Action.

i guess this would require an 'outbox' or 'to sent items' which is a folder containing the mails to be sent in the future, this way it will take up diskspace and you can cancel it or alter the delivery time

I don't think queuing a big attachment for delivery should be a problem. A folder called Outbox for whose storage consumption is tracked is sufficient to attribute resource allocation for pending mail.

Outlook and Exchange have the feature now, many systems have had it in the past (e.g, Digital Equipment's All-in-One more than 20 years ago).

nic76 I was composing when you posted. So... there's a feature for the discussion board: a someone is answering this message flag when you hit REPLY!

It's called "simulposting", and happens all the time on busy boards.

I also find email reminders for birthdays, etc to be very useful. I know there's mention of it in the Coming Features, but the combination of a Calendar function with email reminders on Fastmail would make this great service even better.
