Fastmail has come to a stop using new interface
Hi All,
In all the years I have used Fastmail I have never ever not once ever ever ever ever been kept waiting to read my e mails. Hence the word "fast" in the title. This morning I clicked on a mail in the new interface I see the following message loading...... I waited... and waited... and waited ... and gave up went to another unread mail and I see the message loading...... I waited .... and waited .....gave up made a cup of coffee came back and I see the message loading...... I gave up and tried another mail and I see the message loading...... Is anyone else experiencing this??????? This wasn't happening last week. This really is taking the biscuit. What are we to think! what the f@~?:>@~+_:?> is going on. I am seriously P@~:}{?> off now and depressed. I just don't need this. |

I'm using the modern and I'm noticing it is slower (getting the loading messages for a few seconds), although not at a standstill.

If you read this thread you will see reference to a UI that contains some new style sheets. That is what I'm referring to as beta since the url is http://beta.fastmail.fm/
modern is the UI that went live that caused all the negative posts ~ 2 weeks ago. It's url is http://www.fastmail.fm/ classic can be found here - http://classic.fastmail.fm which is then redirected to https://www.fastmail.fm/?force_interface=html which is a logon screen with the classic interface option checked so it's automatically on. There are multiple ways into classic, I'm simply showing one of them given that functionality differs across these interfaces it is helpful to know which one you are using at any particular time |

Ok well if you insist we will call it the modern rather than the new interface .... I could think of quite a few far more appropriate names for it.
Ok so during the day it has got worse. This morning I could not read e mail without seeing the the message loading...... Sending a composed e mails was slower than I have ever known before. NOW I can't log in at all!! Now it just says Loading with a barber poll style grey progress bar underneath it. A little dialogue box keeps appearing and disappearing saying unable to connect to server, reconnecting to server etc etc. This is just ridiculous. I telephoned Opera this morning trying to speak to someone. No body is able to help. I am at my wits end yet another COMPLETE DAY LOST because of this poxy rubbish. |

My customers are quite happy with GoDaddy of all things. They get their own domain so that they are no longer dependent on any one email provider, then use GoDaddy's free web based email that is quite elegant. Less expensive and I have to say that, being a larger company, they have a powerful international backbone and servers - plus free, capable phone support.

I'm having no luck whatsoever logging into my Fastmail account. Just getting the "loading" message.
This is in Safari 6.0.2 I'm running Apple OS 10.8.2 In Camino I have no problem getting in. WTF? To say that this is extremely frustrating doesn't quite cover it. I've been using the Safari browser for years with my Fastmail account. Anyone else having this issue in Safari and OS10. Anyone know a solution? Thanks |

my preferred UI into fastmail is mail.app have you tried inputting your credentials into mail and accessing via imap? |

New interface
A lot of the problems people are having may be due to browser issues with the new JavaScript Ajax stuff. It may be really cool, but it needs to work reliably. I'm stuck using IE 8 at work. The simpler stuff Pobox and Polarismail use works fine; less functional maybe, but still gets the job done (or enough of it).
There are a lot of browsers in use. Most people aren't going to be using Opera, for whatever reason. If FM wants to use a lot of Ajax stuff, it needs to be tested, thoroughly, with all the major browsers. |
