"hangout" on Gmail Basic View?
Someone on a forum asked me to communicate using Google Hangout instead of the forum's messaging system, and he said "hangout" can be accessed at the left of the Gmail screen. I use Basic View for Gmail, and there is no mention of hangout on the screen, nor do I imagine that hangout would work with basic view and a slow connection.
I informed my correspondent of this, but he insists hangout would work with basic view. For all I know he may be correct, but how to find out, since there is no mention of hangout on the screen, and no Gmail support to ask? Does anyone at EMD have any wisdom to offer? And by the way, what is "instant chat" anyway? How would it differ from just exchanging messages on that forum's internal messaging system, which is what this correspondent and I are already doing? (It's faster than EMD's pm system, almost "instantaneous." For me it's plenty fast, and I don't need to receive this bloke's ideas and comments any faster than I am already doing.) Still, live and learn, and I was curious, so I thought I'd ask here. |
