Why do I get an input box labelled People appearing next to the Do button (for Action) every second time I refresh the screen? Half the time it's there, half the time it isn't.

The People box is supposed to appear when you select 'Redirect to people' from the action dropdown. I have no idea why it appears when you refresh, as it should be hidden by the javascripts on that page.

It appears every second or third time I click Refresh (ie the button next to Poll).
This is on Firefox 1.0, Windows 2000. |

Are you sure you don't have "Redirect to people" selected in the "Action" drop-down list? I am using Firefox 1.0 as well, and it doesn't happen in my case. What style sheet are you using?
Also, did you try the 'Account Problems?' link on the login screen and see if that solves anything? |

I'm not selecting anything - "Delete (click for more)" is visible in the Action dropdown.
I've now tested on Firefox 1.0 on Windows XP, the same problem still occurs. On IE6 on Windows XP, it doesn't, so it does appear to be a Firefox related problem. |

Does it disappear after the page has loaded completely?

I've tried a fresh profile - problem still occurs. Here are some screenshots:
http://michaelsnell.fastmail.co.uk This shows the problem on the inbox screen, and what I take it is a similar problem on the message view screen - about a third of the time this is also displayed inconsistently. I've tried the Account Problems link, and the only issue it reports is that I'm not not using the default stylesheet - I'll try switching back to that temporarily to see if there is any effect. |

I've seen the same problem on FF 1.0/XP for some time now. I notified Kurian of the problem, and he told me couldn't reproduce the problem at his end.
It also happens with the "New folder name" text box on the Files screen, by the way. Kurian told me that particular piece of code was tweaked recently, but he still couldn't reproduce the problem. Peter |

Never saw it before, but I can reproduce it here, too (FF 1.0, WinXP):
With FF open, I open my inbox with Fastcheck (which opens a new FF window). I keep clicking 'Refresh'. Occasional refreshes will paint with a 'People' box; maybe once in 3 or 5 refreshes. -jeff- Edit: Oops - That one should have been: WinXPPro, FF1.0PR. This morning, I tried it with FF1.0, WinXPPro SP1. Same, though the People box appeared somewhat less often, maybe once in 10 refreshes or so. Sounds like an issue affecting FF version 1/Windows combo. Can anyone reproduce this in older FF versions?
Works fine when I test - the people box displays for a few seconds, but after the page completes loading, it disappears. But doing this on Linux. Ok. Just checked out with a friend(Thanks, Manoj ) on Win 2003, using FF 1.0, and works fine for him. |

Well the "onload" event is supposed to hide the people textbox, so it sounds like some bug in FF that sometimes for some people that means the onload event isn't running. Weird.
Can you: 1. Go to Tools -> Javascript Console 2. Click 'Clear' to ensure theres no errors 3. Go to the mailbox screen 4. Hit F5 to reload the page until the problem occurs (make sure that between each F5 you wait completely for the page to load - no progress bar at the botttom, circle at the top right not "spinning") 5. When it occurs, see if there's an error in the javascript console window and copy and paste it here for me to see. Rob |
