Gmail tools and tips.

When posting about a Tool, please post a link and a short explanation of what it does. For a Tip, please be concise.

Since this is a sticky thread, postings that are neither Tools nor Tips for Gmail will be removed. To discuss a specific tool or idea start a new, separate thread.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
In course of using Gmail for the past couple of months, I came across various tools one can use to enhance the “Gmail experience”. Some of them, including some good tips, were mentioned in various threads on this forum. More are coming routinely. So I thought a thread dedicated to those would be a one good place where anyone finding a “goody” can post it.

Here is a collection of what I remember at this time:

Pop Goes the Gmail - POP access to your Gmail account

Gtray for Gmail - open and check your Gmail from the tray

It seems to allow you to upload documents, not emails to Gmail. I emailed the author for some info. Will report.

Related bookmarklets:

1) G-MailTo (create a blank message from your browser toolbar)
2) G-MailIt ("mail this page" functionality -- automatically inserts URL and title of page you're looking at)

GMailCompose extension for Firefox/Mozilla Suite/Netscape 7.x
http://jedbrown.net/mozilla/

This one is similar to G-Mailto.

It lets you right-click a mailto link to open a compose mail form in a new tab. It also works with highlighted plain text addresses. I prefer it as it still allows you to left-click and launch your e-mail client.

edit: forgot link

Gmail Notifier for Firefox

Adds an icon to your Firefox toolbar, just to notify you of new messages (in case you don't want to leave a tab always open for your GMail).
