Hi Killer,

That's what I'm trying to figure out. Occassionally I'll hit reply and the quoted message will say "WROM blah, blah, blah..." and it's really annoying.

So I was hoping someone else would know where this WROM thing is originating - perhaps from the mail server itself?

I don't know if the mail adress above is real... but I advise you to change it to something that does not exist...

Wow that's weird and freaky. This sort of thing has happened extremely intermittently before, but I never worked out what was happening.

Can you PM me your account details and permission to look at the email so I can try and work out what's going on.

Thanks

Rob

Hi Rob,

What do you mean by PM?

Also, I 'googled' WROM and found mail posts here and there around the Web where the same thing was happening.

It certainly is odd, because it's been reported elsewhere as a strange but "seen by others" problem...

Is it completely repeatable? If so, I'd really like to try and track this down...

Ok, I did some searching and found this mention as well.

http://lists.horde.org/archives/imp/...22/034868.html

I emailed that guy, and he got back to me with what he found:

---
Its unrelated to your application. Its the client.

The client has installed an antivirus program (I think it was norton) and turned on "privacy" option. That option causes the program to scramble any email address it sees before allowing it over the network.

Whoever this is happening to - ask them to look into their computer and check the configuration of their "privacy" software.
---

So sounds like a anti-virus program issue!

I've tracked this down to occurring with Symantec Client Firewall v5.1. I'm not sure to what extent this exact product is out there--I think this is a point product that companies can license for their employees.

On this release, Open Advanced Options, and the control is called "Email (From)" privacy. It is set to Block by default, at least the way my company distributes it.
