Netscape, Excite, Hotmail
I say these 3 are the worst. The amount of spam I'm getting through them is NOT funny, Excite and Hotmail is particularly bad. Excite has also frequent downtimes so that makes it a real problem for me...
How about Lycos? |

the worst is hotmail the spam capital of the world, but yahoo is moving right up.
yahoo showed some decency in not shrinking existing accounts. hotmail fills your account with spam, shrinks it, than threatens stuff you want to keep if you don't pay for more storage. that's racketeering at its finest. nitripps |

Escaped from Netscape
Quote:
email service. Like you said, their server is frequently down, customer support is nonexistant, and they offer no spam protection. I also found Netscape to be very unreliable as some of my messages got "lost". Go figure.Has Netscape changed? Not really. IMO, Netscape is so bad, they make Hotmail look good by comparison. ![]() |

A while ago
Excite WAS pretty bad when it moved its service. But now, I don't think it's too bad.
Of the accounts I have, I like Myownemail the least (I don't have a Hotmail account ... sorry! ) because of its ridiculously small mailbox (about 1mB) and its frequent downtimes. One GOOD thing is that I've never lost e-mails there ... yet. |

I think the worst is mail.com for the reasons stated above and for the pop-up ads.

I'e never had problems with Excite but MOE there are times they are down for no apparent reason and they never explain what happened. I get more spam in one week with MOE than Hormel makes in that same time span, or so it seems.

The worst email service? That's easy.
"I'm reproducing a letter that was written to runbox.com by one of its former customers. I couldn't agree with it more. I will also be posting it to several email review sites. It reads:
Well, it seems to be time for me to find another email account and stop using runbox altogether. I had high hopes for runbox, and planned to use it as my main email. But it simply has not lived up to my expectations. I paid for my runbox account several months ago, and since then (literally since the day my payment was processed), the problems I've had include: - Frequent webmail downtime - Frequent pop server downtime - Lost email messages (never delivered) - major incoming message delay (hours, days, weeks) - minor outgoing message delay (hours) Notice that customer support is not one of the things I complained about. I've found runbox to be quick to address customer issues; very helpful and prompt. Unfortunately, problems continue to arise, making the email account unreliable overall. My decision to stop using runbox is not my own. I'd personally continue to give it the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, my friends and family have stopped sending email to my runbox account because they cannot count on me getting their messages in a timely fashion (or at all). And an email account is useless if no one will email me there. So this is goodbye to runbox. I hope the service improves for everyone continuing to use it." The above letter is not an exaggeration. In the less than 2 months since I signed up its been problem after problem. I will also be leaving as soon as I forward all of my saved mail. |

I don't think that Runbox could even be a candidate for this award. They might have had some downtime and you might have had a bad experience, but they are not as bad as Netscape, Hotmail, or Mail.com. They are much better and I think it was unfair to nominnate them for this catagory.

Who is Fastmail? Anybody home?
I've been trying to get a message through to anyone at Fastmail to ask some questions about their services. All my emails bounce back as undeliverable. I have a policy that says I do not do business with people I can't communicate with. That should be a guideline to anyone purchasing products or services over the internet.
On the other hand, a service I slammed pretty good as being the worst email service (next to Yahoo) actually has the best customer service. Maybe I should just go buy a roll of stamps and a bottle of scotch and have done with this whole internet email affair! |
