Don't get offended, check your mailbox.
I received e-mail today fastmail.fm about termination of free services (Increased storage quotas and other service level changes) as of Nov. 30, 2013. Maybe it's only for US customers

I am guessing that your reading of "now we do not have free accounts" to be an announcement that grandfathered guest accounts are being canceled. That is not the case. The meaning is that now new guest account sign-ups are no longer offered, the name "ad-free" no longer makes much sense. Assuming you have a regular FM guest account, it will continue to be supported for a long time.

That said, with no upgrades to such things as storage space, and limited spam controls, the old guest accounts will become increasingly non viable as an option for anyone with serious email needs. The latest announcements make no difference to those with old guest (and member) accounts. As before, it makes sense to make decisions about your long term email provider. One option would be to buy several years Fastmail Lite at a cheap price. If you do not care about privacy, there are also good free options available from other providers.

I hope your interpretation is the right one.

Correct me if I wrong, but this means you have to pay:

1. Ad Free has been renamed to Lite. Now that we don’t have free Guest accounts, the name is an anachronism since no accounts have advertising.
2. All Lite (previously Ad Free) and Enhanced accounts have increased email and file storage quotas. Full accounts have increased file storage quotas.
3. The price of the Lite account is now $10/year. We will email all existing Ad Free users about this change shortly with information about how to lock in the existing pricing for some years.

I think I am slowly getting it: existing guest accounts remain "guest accounts" and free.
Is it how this is?
Thank you for being patient with me

There's been a few questions about Guest and Member accounts on this forum and elsewhere. I'm not sure how people are getting the idea that those account types are changing given the email only mentioned Guest in passing and didn't mention Member at all. But they are, so again:

Guest and Member accounts are not changing. They will still exist, will still cost nothing and will continue to be basically unsupported and unmaintained.

How I would have liked this to be true Rob!! (If they were 'TOTALLY' UNMAINTAINED they would still be on the original interface it was on when i registered )
