Also works great if you hate your screen with very big ads and a very little space for what really matters: your inbox

In these years using Internet I have learned how not seen ads. In fact, in most of cases I do not see Google Adsense ads, for example. But some providers seem to believe their only service is to display ads. For example, one of the most important spanish ISP have more than 35% of the screen with its own logo and a very big ad in the top of the inbox. When you try to use the preview window in the webmail, you only can see the first 2-3 lines of every message (fortunately, they have disabled viewing of the headers when using the preview pane --maybe because if not, no part of the message will be visible--).

I wonder if this is ever going to have real IMAP access (or POP3, for that matter)...or is it always going to be primarily for use with the AIM chat client? The 5.9 beta version constantly crashed on my computer and I had to delete it.

Question 250MB limit?

After logging in it displayed under Welcome line:

You are currently using 1 KB (of your 250 MB limit).

I finally made it into the beta forum.

No IMAP or POP3 access for now, and right now, it's broken for any screenname that was ever attached to an AOL account, or at least that's what "Beta Josh" says.

But now its 2Gb

AOL forum software isn't very pretty.

It is nice to have an AIM Mail rep posting on their forum. Hope Gmail does the same. What Beta Josh said by older AOL username is not quite true. Or he is talking about recently old names. I have an AOL screename from 8 to 9 years ago. When I quit AOL. I left it dormant for a long time. Last year, I used it for my AIM screename. Now I can use it for AIM Mail.

Originally, the storage was going to be 250MB. But AIL Mail change it to 2GB. If it does not change by itself shortly, go on the AIM board and let Beta Josh know.

Just got this from the Running Man blog newsfeed:

"IMAP access is now turned on for all aim.com accounts. Set your IMAP client to use imap.aol.com, port 143, and use your AIM name as the username."

redsea,

You need a screename. You have a screename if you subscribe to AOL Messenger, AOL, Netscape, and Compuserver.

I had to try it (since AOL's beta web interface is one of the worst, possibly the worst, web mail interface I've ever seen), and you're right, it did work, and without having to use the "advanced" login, as I thought I'd have to do to specify the IMAP server. Interestingly, though, mail2web shows my AIM address as username@imap.uk.aol.com.

Wow indeed. Tell me when POP3 arrives

I logged in using my old netscape.net email username and they asked me to do a chapta or whatever and then told me

I mean 250MB whould have been enough for me if they had POP3 so I do hope they implement POP3 too.

May I ask a crazy question. I have now username at netscape.net could I use the shorter sameusername at aim.com too? netscape.net is long for people to type out compared to aim.com

Edited in after reading this

Quote:
"Note: These Help pages are under construction during the Beta Test period. "
And I have the same username at aim.com wow indeed whith 2G IMAP they told me. I have not tested it imap.aol.com and port 143 so surprise not the more logical imap.aim.com

I am very scared of imap since I failed to set it up properly on three or four email clients now. I am too dumb indeed. So I hope they allow pop3 in near future

Had they Ig instead of 2 G as it says now?

Or do you mean what. sorry me not getting it.

If mail2web has pop3 that would be a bonus, do they?
