I've used it on Firefox without a problem, except of course the slowness. It reminds me of why signing into Netscape mail irritates me, and no wonder, same system.

I have to say, though, that I do like the service, for it's simplicity and the cool factor. There are things AOL does that are just neat, but they tend to balance those things with major irritations like the huge banner ads. Not much of a problem if you're using one of those programs that block ads. The ability to retract an email to another user on the system is something I missed about leaving AOL years ago.

One thing that is odd, is that I can't tell how much total storage there is, like someone mentioned earlier. Supposed to be 2GB, but where is it in the interface?

I use AIM Mail on Firefox without problem, except you are on Mac and I am on Windows. Maybe that is the difference.

Yes, no problems with Firefox in Windows here too.

Go into "Edit Folders" page you will see "*Your saved email is actually stored compressed - it's like you're getting extra space for free! The total you see here is the size of your compressed messages."

2G storage is mentioned in the FAQ

I use Firefox 1.0.4 and Windows and everything works fine actually. But the day AIM Mail was launched with 2 GB every time I logged in the system my Firefox crashed when the "wellcome page" ended login.

For those looking for POP-like access to AIM.com, FreePOPs now supports it.

New aol.lua 0.0.8 works for AOM Mail if aim.com line is added to config.lua.

uhorn, did you add the aim line in the config.lua?

I spoke too soon. It does not work with me either. I download something, but no sender, subject, and body.

I will have to trouble shoot this with Russells in the Freepops forum. I sent him a log.

Hi, I did modify the config.lua.
I just did a try by using Becky, received something.
They are blank message just as you saw.

Thanks to all. I guess Russells is very close to resolve it.

I finally found a version of my real name that hadn't been taken, so I'm not quite so ticked off anymore Off-topic, but I wonder what the general experience is with the AIM 5.9 beta client.

Sorry guys...I did fix it this morning. AOL and AIM use different folder names which caused issues.

It works for me (complete with slowness ) in both Firefox 1.0.4, and Safari 2.0. I did recently have to click past a "Five Reasons To Upgrade [To] Netscape Browser 8.0" screen.

P.S. If you are using Netscape Browser 8.0, be sure to upgrade to 8.0.1, which incorporates Firefox 1.0.4 security fixes.

Thanks for telling us about this.
I installed AdBlock a few days ago.
It surely works great if you hate banner ads.
