Relegating Gmail to Backup only.

I am regretfully moving away from Gmail.
I have opened an account with Polaris at 25gig for £8/year. I have changed the forwarding on my domain hosts to forward everything to my polaris email address.
I will keep the forwarding to the gmail accounts as back ups to complement my HDD and External HDD back ups but that is all.
I gave Polaris a test ride around a year ago, but got distracted and ended up sticking with Gmail at that time. No more though. Too many problems recently, mainly due to their insistance on trying to direct every activity on the internet to their own sites/companies. Even down to trying to change the sign in on Youtube. Enough is enough. Between that and the spam directed straight to the inbox I have had enough.

It was great while it lasted though....

Keep us updated on how it goes. I've had thoughts about doing the same thing.

Yes, it would be interesting to see how this will improve the Youtube experience, etc.

And also, whether the problem is with Google . . . or the end user.

It will allow me to log in to youtube as I have always done without being nagged and annoyed.

If I have an issue with Polaris then I will be able to talk to Polaris where as talking to Google is very much a one way process.

Also I decide what to allow into my inbox rahter than having spam shunted in there by the email provider.

I do not see how the problem could be mine as I have not changed the way I use youtube or gmail. THEY changed and tried to control how I use these facilities.

So I ask you how you consider this to be some thing I did?

I have read here about some people having severe spam problems with whatever provider, yet I use those same providers, and very little spam comes my way.

Why should that be - what's the difference?

Perhaps I'm a little more careful in not giving out my e-mail addresses, telephone number, etc.

I don't have a Curriculum Vitae in PDF format published online - showing both my and my reference's e-mail addresses and telephone numbers.

Some people do . . .

Gmail SPAM

As I Have Said, The Spam Is Gmail Generated And Placed At The Top Of The Inbox Clearly Stated GOOGLE Advertising!!!!!!!!!!

That Has Nothing To Do With My Cv, It Is Gmail.

Also I Do Not See How My Cv Could Try To Force Me Into Changing The Way I Log Into Youtube?

HEAR HEAR??!!!
