VFEmail.net/Openmail.cc down on Sunday morning

VFEmail.net and Openmail.cc are down this morning, as confirmed by isup.me. There are no recent tweets from Rick at the twitter feed. If this is routine maintenance then I wish he had given some advance warning. If it is an unplanned outage, then I wish he would post a quick tweet about system status and prognosis. Uptime has been good at VFEmail.net since the DDoS attack months ago, but it is unnerving to discover the site down and no way to learn what is going on. Does anyone here know more about this than I do?

The service came back up not long after my earlier post, but it was down for at least an hour after I first discovered it was down, and I have no way of knowing how long it had been down before I tried to log in. IMO, if a service is going to have a planned outage longer than a few minutes, some advance notice is owed to users.

It's down for me to so maybe something has gone badly wrong there. Also it might be me but I can't seem to access my old openmail.cc account probably through the vfemail.net domain which I thought you were able to do previously.

For me, webmail.openmail.cc is down also (along with the old and obsolete Openmail.cc homepage), as confirmed a moment ago by isup.me, but I was just able to log into my Openmail.cc account at the VFEmail.net home page, and this method seems to be working OK.

This situation is somewhat unusual. Usually any outage, whether planned maintenance or the result of a mishap, affects both Openmail.cc and VFEmail.net, since the former is an integral part of the latter. I'm not sure what to make of this, especially as Openmail.cc has been fine all week after last Sunday's short outage, and now here it is Saturday and it's out again. Do you think Rick performs some weekly housekeeping task on the weekend that produces this result, perhaps without his being aware of it? I suppose this might merit an email to him to ask about the weekend phenomenon, especially if it happens a third time.

update - situation unchanged, not fixed

Approximately twenty-four hours later, the situation has not been addressed and remains exactly the same -- webmail.openmail.cc is down, but VFEmail.net is up (the home page shows a green light for overall system status), and it is possible to log into Openmail.cc accounts through the VFEmail.net login fields. What on earth is going on?

I gather from someone who was in touch with Rick that it was the latter. Let's hope the safeguards that were put in place after the last one will hold firm.
