Freenet.CH

Hey guys first post on these forums, but I have lurked previously reading about the various free webmail providers. I was originally using Gmail, which was great but I was looking for something less integrated yet still robust and above all clean and simple. I recently found Freenet.CH (Switzerland; not sure if it is affiliated with Freenet.DE) and it is fantastic. The UI is modern, polished and above all intuitive. I have not given a whole lot of time to test it yet, but so far messages are received very quickly and there are a fair amount of options. Although the main website is in German, once you create your account ( I used google translate ) you can choose from a list of like 40+ languages. You can differentiate between GB and US English as well as various dialects of Chinese. I read the FAQ and it mentioned that it had robust spam protection but again I have not thoroughly tested it. If you are bored and willing to try a new service, I would recommend Freenet.ch. I believe that the company behind Freenet.CH is a domain provider/hoster but I am not completely certain as I am not literate in German.

Edit: Footer on the bottom of the page says : "Das ist ein Service der Bosshard Multimedia GmbH"

Poking around the site yesterday I seem to recall seeing that one can use an email client to access mail, but I haven't found any smtp or pop settings....

I have a feeling it may even be mail.freenet.ch for both, worth trying giving that a go as well as pop3. before the domain to as that should pick it up either way.

How do you create an account? Their FAQ says to click Login and answer the questions. That doesn't work.

The FAQ says indeed that mail.freenet.ch is the client for both incoming and outgoing servers. For German speakers (from http://www.freenet.ch/faq.html):

Quote:
- Kann ich meine Emails mit einem Mailprogramm wie z.B. Outlook verwenden?
- Ja. Verwenden Sie als Ein-/Ausgangsserver mail.freenet.ch.
