gmail with fast connection can only use HTML
I recently switched to gmail and have emails from other accounts such as Hotmail forwarded to this new gmail account. For the first few days, the Standard view worked but, over the course of a few days, Standard had more and more trouble loading. So, now, the progress bar for loading gmail shows no progress at all and I always have to use HTML. I therefore set HTML as the default view, but the loading page with progress bar still appears and makes me have to choose HTML at the bottom, despite having set it (HTML) as the default.
I have a fast broadband connection. I use up to date Firefox. I want the Standard view for Gmail and for it to be the default. What's wrong? Thanks. |

Actually, you mean "Basic HTML" -- Standard view is also HTML, just not basic.
![]() This isn't a one-off problem; I have had GMail in the past trying to force Basic HTML on me, and problems with this mode have been recently discussed. By the way, EMD covers many email service providers; for those which have their own forum(s) here, such as GMail, it's more appropriate to post in the proper forum, and a mod will be moving this thread shortly. Welcome to EMD. ![]() |

Moderator, Whoops, forgot to actually move the thread. Moved now. Thanks for the reminder Robert.
