I've tinkered with every spam setting (on/off/ upped the threshold) over the past month, to no avail. The only new thing is the deleting today of the 2 rules which sent email to the Inbox if certain words were found. I've yet to see if that has an effect.
I do have some gmail accounts forward to my one Fastmail address, but they don't seem to be affected. The only ones that get siphoned off are to my Fastmail address directly. I'll have the problematic people send me some fresh emails today and see what happens.
Yes, POP3.
