There are many solutions. Do you want to archive the emails just in case (but unlikely) you might need them in the future; or do you want them readily available to look at when you want?

For most people, I think it best to use an external mail client to save the emails. Just set up something like Thunderbird, create local folders, and move messages you want to archive from the FastMail folders to the local folders. That makes it possible to look back at the old messages just by opening the external mail client in the future.

If you really do not expect to look back at the old messages, downloading them into zip files and deleting them from FastMail is a quick and easy solution. However, if you do that and need to view the messages in the future, it will take some work (again various ways of achieving it).
