The normal (and custom) spam filter by default only files spam into the Spam folder, not Trash. Look at the a Spam Protection screen Advanced preferences and see if you changed any setting to Trash. As BritTim pointed out, that message has a zero spam score and you should use address book whitelisting.

My guess is that you have a normal or custom sieve rule causing this issue.
